Why we're called Aksharam
अक्षरम्
aksharam noun, from Sanskrit
- A letter or syllable. Every Indian script is built from aksharas.
- That which does not perish.
We named the company after both meanings. Every story, in every language, begins with a single akshara, and a story told in your own language is the kind people remember.
The word lives on across India: अक्षर in Hindi, అక్షరం in Telugu, ಅಕ್ಷರ in Kannada, അക്ഷരം in Malayalam and অক্ষর in Bengali.

When can I start using Aksharam?
We're building it now. People on the waitlist get access first, and their feedback shapes what we build next.
Which languages will it support?
Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Urdu, Kannada, Odia, Malayalam, Punjabi and Assamese. Bhojpuri, Rajasthani and Sindhi are next on our list.
How is this different from a translation app?
A translation app swaps words. Aksharam keeps what the words mean, adapting idioms, tone and cultural references for each audience. It also covers the rest of the job: research, scripts, transcription, captions and publishing.
Will it understand Hinglish and Indian accents?
That's a priority. Transcription is being tuned for Indian accents and for conversations that switch between English and Indian languages mid-sentence.
